Limb Removal in Port Orchard, WA

A heavy limb hanging over your roof, deck, or driveway is a problem waiting for the next windstorm. We take it down under control and haul it away - across Port Orchard and the Kitsap Peninsula.

One bad limb doesn't mean the whole tree has to go

A lot of calls we get are about a single limb. A Douglas fir branch that's grown out over the roof and scrapes the shingles in the wind. A western red cedar limb hanging low over the deck. A bigleaf maple branch cracked and broken but still caught up in the tree after the last storm. The rest of the tree is fine - it's that one branch that has to come off before it does damage.

That's limb removal. We take the specific limb down under control, rope it so nothing drops freely, and haul it away. You keep the tree and lose the problem. Grizzly Tree Service is owner-operated - Corey is on every job - and on bigger limbs he brings in additional help when the job calls for it.

Limb touching a power line?

If a limb is touching or very close to a power line, stay well back and call your electric utility first. They have to clear the line before we work near it. Once it's safe, we take the limb down and haul it away.

When you need a limb removed

  • A heavy limb overhanging your roof, deck, or driveway.
  • A dead or broken limb hanging in the canopy that could drop.
  • A limb rubbing your siding, gutters, or a window.
  • A low limb over a walkway or the street that people keep ducking under.
  • A limb that cracked in a storm and is now just resting in the tree.

How we do it

We look at where the limb is, what's underneath it, and how it's attached. Then we cut it in sections and lower each piece on rope so nothing drops onto your roof, deck, or car. We make the final cut clean so the tree heals properly, and we haul away the whole branch. If a limb turns out to be a sign the whole tree is failing, we'll tell you that too - but most of the time it's just the one branch.

What's included

  • The limb taken down under control - roped, not dropped.
  • Dead and hanging limbs removed before they fall on their own.
  • A clean final cut so the tree heals.
  • The whole branch chipped and hauled away.
  • Free estimate, insured.

Some cities, shorelines, and steep slopes have rules about limb removal and permits. We check before we cut and can help with the application.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between limb removal and trimming?

Limb removal is taking out specific heavy limbs - usually one or two that are over your roof, deck, or driveway. Trimming and pruning is broader work across the whole tree. They overlap, but you call us for limb removal when there's a particular branch you want gone.

There's a dead limb hanging up in the tree. Is that urgent?

It can be. A dead or broken hanging limb can drop without warning, sometimes long after the storm that broke it. If it's over something it could hit - a roof, a deck, a car - we get it down before it comes down on its own.

The limb is touching the power line. Can you cut it?

If a limb is touching or very close to a power line, call your electric utility first. They have to clear the line before we work near it. Once the utility has made it safe, we take the limb down and haul it away.

How do you lower a big limb over a roof?

We rope it. The limb gets cut in sections and lowered on rope so nothing drops freely onto your roof or deck. We plan the cuts around what's underneath and keep the drop zone clear.

Do you take the branch away?

Yes. On every job we haul away the branches and wood. We chip the brush and leave the site clean.

Should the whole tree come down, or just the limb?

Often just the limb. A healthy tree with one bad branch over the roof doesn't need to come down - that branch does. If the whole tree is the problem, we'll tell you that too.
