Trimming and pruning that keeps your trees healthy and clears them off your roof, gutters, and walkways. Deadwood removed, crowded trees thinned, and limbs raised - across Port Orchard and the Kitsap Peninsula.
Trimming that helps the tree and protects your house
A lot of the trimming we do around Port Orchard and South Kitsap isn't about looks - it's about keeping trees off the things they shouldn't touch. A Douglas fir whose lower limbs have grown out over the roof. A western red cedar dropping debris into the gutters every fall. A bigleaf maple branch swinging against the siding in the wind. Left alone, these turn into roof damage, clogged gutters, and broken limbs. Trimmed on time, the tree stays healthy and the house stays clear.
Grizzly Tree Service is owner-operated. Corey is on every job, the cuts get made deliberately, and we haul away every branch. We don't strip a tree bare or top it - we take out what needs to come out and leave the tree standing right.
When you need trimming or pruning
- Deadwood hanging in the canopy that drops in every wind.
- Branches touching or overhanging your roof, gutters, or siding.
- Limbs too low over a driveway, walkway, or the street.
- A crowded tree with branches rubbing and crossing.
- A tree you want to keep but that's grown into something it shouldn't.
How we do it
We start by looking at the whole tree and deciding what to take and what to leave. Deadwood comes out first. Then we clear branches off the roof and gutters, raise the low limbs over walkways and driveways, and thin the crowded spots so air moves through. Cuts are clean and made in the right place so the tree heals properly. We climb or use a pole saw depending on the height - whatever the tree calls for.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between trimming and pruning?
In practice they overlap. Pruning is the selective removal of specific branches - deadwood, crossing limbs, branches heading for your roof - to keep the tree healthy and shaped. Trimming is the broader cleanup work. We do both as part of the same visit, and we haul away every branch.
When should a tree on the Kitsap Peninsula be pruned?
Most trees respond best to pruning during dormancy, but deadwood and limbs over your roof can come out any time. A branch scraping your shingles in a windstorm isn't something to wait on. We'll tell you what makes sense for your specific tree.
Can you thin a crowded tree without hurting it?
Yes. Thinning removes select branches to let light and air move through the canopy, which actually helps the tree. The key is not over-thinning - we take out what needs to go and leave the structure intact.
Do you clean up everything afterward?
Yes. On every job we haul away the branches and wood. We chip the brush, load the limbs, and leave the yard clean. You're not raking up after us.
How often should I have my trees trimmed?
It depends on the tree and what's around it. Trees over your roof and gutters usually need attention more often than a tree in an open field. We can tell you on the estimate what yours needs and roughly how often.
