Tree Removal in Port Orchard, WA
When a Douglas fir, western red cedar, or bigleaf maple on your Port Orchard property has to go, Grizzly Tree Service takes it down safely - in pieces when it has to be - and hauls away every branch and log. Free estimates, owner on every job, debris gone the same day.
Tree removal done the careful way
A tree that has to come down is rarely in an easy spot. On lots across Port Orchard, Bremerton, and the rest of the Kitsap Peninsula, the trees people worry about most are the ones leaning over a roof, a driveway, or a fence - the tall Douglas firs and western red cedars that grew up right next to the house. That's exactly the work we do. We take the tree down in sections, lowering each piece on rope so nothing falls freely, and we plan every cut around what's underneath it.
Grizzly Tree Service is owner-operated. Corey Carter is on every job - he gives the estimate, he runs the removal, and he hauls away the mess. On bigger removals he brings in additional help when the job calls for it, but you always have one phone number and one point of contact from the first call to final cleanup.
When you need a tree removed
Some signs a tree has reached the end of the line and should come down before it comes down on its own:
- A Douglas fir or western hemlock that's dead or dropping bark and large dead limbs.
- A bigleaf maple or red alder with a split trunk or a large cavity.
- A tree that's noticeably leaning toward your house, deck, or driveway.
- A cedar too close to the foundation, lifting a walkway, or crowding the gutter line.
- A tree you've been told is a hazard, or one you simply don't want to worry about anymore.
If you're unsure whether a tree needs to come down, ask us to look at it as part of your free estimate. We'll tell you straight.
How we take a tree down
Not every tree can be felled in one piece. When there's a house, fence, or slope in the way, we climb the tree and take it apart from the top. Each section is cut small, roped, and lowered to the ground under control. We keep the drop zone tight to protect your lawn and landscaping. Where a tree can come down in one piece safely, we'll do that instead. It's faster and simpler.
Some cities, shorelines, and steep slopes require a permit before a tree can be removed. We check before we cut and can help with the application, so you're not caught off guard partway through.

What's included
- The full tree taken down, in pieces or in one piece depending on the spot.
- All branches and wood chipped and hauled away on the same job.
- The site left clean - no pile of logs left behind for you to deal with.
- Free estimate, and we're insured.
Most removals pair naturally with stump grinding - once the tree is down, we can grind the stump below the surface, remove the chips, and fill the hole so you can plant grass or build on top.

Frequently asked questions
How do you remove a tree that's right next to my house?
When a big machine can't fit, we climb the tree and lower pieces down on a rope so nothing drops freely. Each section is cut small and controlled, guided past your roof, gutters, and landscaping. That's how we take down tight Douglas firs and cedars all over South Kitsap without touching the house.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Port Orchard?
Some cities, shorelines, and steep slopes require a permit before a tree can be removed. We check before we cut and can help with the application. Rules vary by town and by whether the lot is near the water or on a bank, so we sort that out with you up front.
What happens to the wood and branches afterward?
On every job we haul away the branches and wood. We chip the brush and load the logs, and you're not left with a pile in your yard. If you want the stump gone too, we pair removal with stump grinding.
Do you bring extra help for big trees?
Corey is on every job. On bigger removals he brings in additional help when the job calls for it - a second set of hands for a tall fir or a tree in a tight spot. You still deal with one owner-operator from estimate to cleanup.
How much does tree removal cost?
Every tree is different - size, lean, what's underneath it, and how we have to take it apart. That's why we give free estimates. Corey comes out, looks at the tree, and gives you a straight number.
